Moving House Packing Tips

It is never easy to move houses. There is no doubt that stress, lack of time and money plays an important role. You will need to save some time to start packing, maybe buy or hire boxes, and you may also need to donate or throw some things away.

Here are a few tips on the packing process:

  • Kitchen utensils such as plates, mugs, cutlery and all glass or porcelain items are advisable to be wrapped in paper or bubble wrap;
  • Delicate items should be put aside and labelled so the movers can take it carefully;
  • Small boxes should be fitted with heavy items making them easy to carry and to fit into the truck;
  • Big boxes should have light items;
  • Empty food out of cabinets, fridge, racks, etc as it is definitely easy to transport and may avoid any possible damage of items inside units;
  • If possible, remove the drawers so it can be transported separately;
  • Label items that will go where, for example, master bedroom, kitchen, living room, etc. This way making it easier when unpacking and it is a directive for the movers

       If you need help, there are many moving companies out there that provide the packing service for an extra charge. Planning ahead is always the best option. Don't leave it for the last minute.
